Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck could return to the squad when the Blades travel to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
The 27-year-old picked up a thigh injury in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace and was missing from the starting line up for the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday. Manager Chris Wilder says he is more hopeful that Fleck will return ahead of the trip down to London:
“He wasn’t close at all for Saturday, but we’ve got a full week now and hopefully he’ll be out on the grass pretty early. We’ve got a couple of bumps and bruises from the weekend, which’ll mean a few players miss Tuesday.
“But there’s nothing long term; we’ve got no long-term injuries at all. We’re hopeful John will be ready for the weekend and if he does make it, I expect we’ll have a full hit to choose from.”
It seems as though there are a few others who have also picked up injuries, but there has been no news about who will miss out for the Carabao Cup second-round match against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow night.
Wilder is expected to ring the changes for the game with a number of fringe players likely to be given the nod, as some of the first team are given a rest. However, it appears that the Blades will have no injury worries for their next league game.
