Blades Set To Fight It Out With Major European Club For Turkish Shot Stopper

Sheffield United and Ajax are both interested in signing Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, according to reports in the Turkish media

It has been previously claimed that the Blades have been scouting the 22-year-old, and they are said to retain an interest in the keeper despite the possibility of Dean Henderson returning for a third loan spell at Bramall Lane.

The current Sheffield United number one will be sent back to Old Trafford in the summer but the Red Devils are apparently open to the player leaving on another temporary switch.

Chris Wilder side’s interest in Bayindir is, therefore, likely an insurance policy just in case Henderson decides to move elsewhere.

The Turkish Under 21 international has conceded 36 goals and kept five clean sheets in 27 appearances this campaign, and his performances have also come to the attention of Ajax.

The Dutch side’s current first choice, Andre Onana, is likely to be sold in the summer, with both Chelsea and Barcelona believed to be interested in signing him.
