Blades Have ‘Held Talks’ With 23 Cap International As They Try To Head Off Major Competition For His Signature

Sheffield United have “held talks” with former Derby County winger Tom Lawrence about moving to Bramall Lane, according to the Sheffield Star journalist James Shield.

The reporter claims the Blades are hoping to snap up a second signing swiftly off the back of securing the services of Anel Ahmedhodzic from Bordeaux:

Lawrence is currently available on a free transfer and the Welshman, who has been capped 23 times by his country, has been linked with a number of different clubs over the past couple of months.

Rangers, West Brom and Watford are the three other teams who have been seriously pushing to sign the 28-year-old, while the likes of Celtic, Southampton, Leeds, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have also been credited with an interest in the player.

While the competition for Lawrence is fierce, it seems United are already pretty advanced in terms of their negotiations so we shall see if they can get the deal over the line.
