“Absolutely No Doubt…” Journalist Makes Claim About Liverpool’s Pursuit Of 22M Blades Midfielder

Liverpool do maintain an interest in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport reporter says the Reds are keeping tabs on the Norwegian international’s progress after he recently returned from an ankle injury:

“They [Liverpool] kind of waited to see what his reaction to the injury would be, make sure he responded well to it, make sure there were no repercussions and see if he could get his form back. So, it will be interesting to see now whether they do rekindle their interest firmly in him because there’s absolutely no doubt they like this player.”

Berge missed nine league matches after suffering ligament damage back in October but he has featured in both of the Blades’ games since the Championship returned to action earlier this month.

The 24-year-old has now been at Bramall Lane for almost three years, having been originally signed from Belgian side Racing Genk for £22m in January 2020.

It should be noted that Berge has been linked with a move away from Yorkshire in nearly every single transfer window since he arrived. Whether Liverpool’s interest will actually turn into something more concrete, we shall have to wait and see. The January transfer window is set to open in just twelve days’ time.
