Lawrenson Intrigued To See How Sheffield United Stand Up To Chelsea Test

Mark Lawrenson says it will be interesting to see how Sheffield United’s tactical approach will work against one of the Premier League’s big six this weekend.

The Blades have so far faced Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Leicester City but they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea tomorrow afternoon, and Lawrenson wonders how Chris Wilder’s side will approach the match:

“I think this is by far Sheffield United’s most interesting game in terms of seeing how they set up against one of the big six.”

Wilder’s unorthodox use of his centre-backs in a 3-5-2 system has gained him many admirers in the lower leagues, but it remains untried against the top teams in the country.

Whether we’ll see centre-backs Chris Basham and Jack O’Connell running down either wing to join in attacks against the Blues, we shall have to wait and see.

In any case, it should be a pretty open game with Chelsea having scored six goals and conceded nine in all competitions so far this campaign. Lawrenson has, though, predicted a 2-0 win for the home side.
