WIlder’s Blades Not Giving Up On Play-Off Dream

Sheffield United came up into the Championship as Champions of League 1 but few would have predicted the type of season the Blades have enjoyed in their return to the second tier of English football.

Many people would have expected Chris Wilder to look at having a solid season and trying to secure a safe mid-table finish in the Championship.

The Blades however have surprised many with their play this campaign and how they have been in and around the top 6 all season long.

Despite a run of only 3 wins with 5 draws but just 2 defeats in their last 10 games, Wilder’s side are still just 3 points behind Millwall who currently are holding onto 6th position after securing a draw vs the Blades at Bramall Lane in their last game.

With Middlesbrough, Preston North End, Brentford, Derby County, Bristol City and Millwall seemingly vying with the Blades for the last 2 spots available with Aston Villa and Fulham already in (assuming Cardiff City finish 2nd behind Champions Wolves), Sheffield United have it all to play for in their remaining fixtures.

This weekend sees United travel to face Birmingham City who are looking to secure their Championship status as the Blues with former Blades’ star Che Adams are only 2 points ahead of Barnsley in the last relegation place and Barnsley have a game in hand. So this weekend’s fixture will not be easy against a desperate Birmingham City outfit.

Chris Wilder’s team play Preston at home and then Bristol City away in their last game so it seems like 3 wins is what the Blades will need plus some other results going their way if they are to claim a spot in the play-offs.

No matter what happens there can be no doubt that Sheffield United have surprised many with their play this season and things are certainly on the up at Bramall Lane under the stewardship of Chris Wilder.
