Wilder Weighs Up Other Options As Blades Deal For Henderson Stalls

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says he may have to consider different options if talks don’t progress further for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s return to Bramall Lane.

The 22-year-old has been locked in contract negotiations with the Red Devils, and it was anticipated he would join the Blades once a new deal had been signed.

However, Henderson has still not agreed an extension despite his current contract at United expiring next summer. Wilder says everyone wants the move to happen but there may be a time when the club have to move on:

“The lads wants to come, he’s told enough people on social media and he’s all over that. The football people at Manchester United want him to come back, I believe, and we want him to come back. But the deal, for whatever reason, isn’t progressing at the pace we’d like. So there’s going to come a point when I have to start considering alternative options.”

It’s just under three weeks until the start of the new Premier League season, and Blades fans will be concerned that the club still don’t have a new number one for the campaign ahead.

Reserve keeper Simon Moore has featured in all of the Blades’ pre-season friendlies so far but Wilder will be keen to strengthen that area of the pitch before the season kicks off for real.
