Wilder Outlines Transfer Stance As Midfield Maestro Is Linked With Arsenal

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has denied reports that midfielder John Fleck could move to Arsenal. The 28-year-old has been linked with a £20m move to the Gunners this month and the arrival of record signing Sander Berge at Bramall Lane has prompted further speculation.

However, speaking ahead of the Blades’ game against Crystal Palace, Wilder said that Fleck is going nowhere and he hopes that the Scottish international will spend the rest of his career with the Yorkshire club:

“He’s never been made available by us, not previously, not now. I want him to be a lifer at Bramall Lane. It’s that simple.”

Sheffield United have been making a splash in the final days of the transfer window. As well as the £22m addition of Berge from Genk, they have confirmed the signing of Richairo Zivkovic on loan from Changchun Yatai.

They are also looking to seal another loan switch before the window shuts, with Panagiotis Retsos expected to join from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season. The Greek international is reportedly having a medical ahead of the move being finalised.
