Wilder Gives Big Hint As To Whether Brewster Will Face His Old Club On Saturday

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has suggested that record signing Rhian Brewster is in contention to make his full debut against his former club Liverpool on Saturday.

The 20-year-old only moved to Bramall Lane for £23.5m earlier this month and he made his first appearances for his new team as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Fulham last weekend. Asked whether the striker is now in line for his first start, Wilder replied:

“Rhian is an infectious character. It was a difficult decision for me on Sunday whether to start him or bring him off the bench. He has obviously had another week’s training and put himself right in the frame to certainly be involved and start as well. He is really at the forefront of our thinking. I’d have no hesitation [in starting him]. He’s pushing.”

Brewster will certainly know the players he is going up against very well, if he is selected by Wilder from the start for the clash at Anfield.

With no Virgil van Dijk, following confirmation that the Dutch defender is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury, the Blades will be hoping to take advantage of the situation and who would bet against Brewster scoring against his former team?
