Sheffield United are on the verge of signing QPR midfielder Luke Freeman for £3m.

Manager Chris Wilder says he is delighted that the Blades are close to securing the 27-year-old for a bargain price:

“He can create and he can score. I am sure he can play a part in this group. He is a bargain. It is a decent number for us, but in terms of the division we are in, we are happy. Luke has been up there in terms of the top Championship performers.”

Middlesbrough have reportedly joined the battle to sign Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

Boro are vying with Rangers, Leeds and Aston Villa for the 22-year-old, but the Reds are believed to be demanding £12m for the winger.

Kent spent last season on loan at Rangers and the Scottish club are the favourites to snap him up on a temporary basis once again.

Leeds are in talks to sign Wolves winger Helder Costa on loan, according to reports in England.

The 25-year-old is believed to be a key target for manager Marcelo Bielsa as he looks to strengthen the Whites’ squad ahead of next season.

Costa made just 16 starts in the Premier League and is unlikely to be a regular for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for the upcoming campaign.
