Sheffield United Wing Back ‘Open’ To Extending His Contract At Bramall Lane

Sheffield United wing-back Enda Stevens says he is open to extending his stay at the Championship club.

The 28-year-old’s current deal expires in 2020, and reports have indicated that the Blades will begin talks over an extension before the end of the year.

When asked about his future at Bramall Lane, Stevens said he is enjoying his football under manager Chris Wilder:

“I’d definitely like to stay here. I won’t get into the talks too much because it’s not my place, but I’d be open to it; 100 per cent. I’m loving my time here and I’m loving the football we play here, too.”

The defender signed on a free transfer from Portsmouth in 2017 and was ever-present as United finished tenth in the Championship last season.

During his time at the club, he has also been handed his first senior caps for the Republic of Ireland. He made his debut for Martin O’Neill’s side in a friendly against the USA back in June.

This Autumn, Stevens has gone on to make three further appearances for his country, coming on as a substitute in the humbling 4-1 defeat to Wales in the Nations League, as well as being given his first start in the 1-1 friendly draw against Poland.
