Sheffield United Vying With Championship Rival To Sign 10 Cap Irish International This Summer

Sheffield United are competing with Preston North End in the battle to snap up Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, according to reports in the English media.

The 20-year-old has been in excellent form for League One outfit Portsmouth, and his performances during his loan spell on the south coast have caught the eye of Blades scouts, who are looking for a new shot-stopper.

Robin Olsen’s loan move from Roma was cut short in January so he could make the switch to Aston Villa, which has meant that manager Paul Heckingbottom has had to rely on Wes Foderingham.

The former Rangers player has been excellent between the sticks but he will need some competition, and Bazunu is seen as a perfect addition to the squad.

He already has 10 caps for the Republic of Ireland despite being relatively inexperienced, and he is a player with massive potential. We shall see if United do win the race for the keeper’s signature this summer.
