Sheffield United are set to take on relegation-threatened Cardiff City in their next Championship game. Can the Blades continue their journey towards the Premier League?
Sheffield United have a few injury concerns ahead of their game with the Bluebirds – Rhys Norrington-Davies, Rhian Brewster and Enda Stevens are all set to miss out. Additionally, Ben Osborn and Daniel Jebbison are also both doubts.
Additionally, first-choice goalkeeper Wes Foderingham will not be available for selection after he was sent off with a straight red card against Burnley. Instead, Adam Davies will play between the sticks.
In their last game, Sheffield United were beaten by Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, as the Clarets secured promotion back to the Premier League. The Blades were kneecapped early on in the game, when they went down to ten men after Wes Foderingham was sent off – from there, Burnley were in control. The game ended 2-0, with both goals being scored by Johann Berg Gudmundsson in the second half.
Meanwhile, Cardiff were beaten by a score of 1-0 at home to Sunderland in their last league encounter. The Black Cats’ solitary goal came by the way of Dennis Cirkin, who tapped the ball home from a rebound.
The last time the two teams met was all the way back in November – in that game, United came away with a 1-0 victory. Overall, it was one of the better performances that Cardiff have put in this season – but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat against the Blades.
