Sheffield United V Southampton: Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder would have been proud with how his side secured the three points against Aston Villa with ten men yesterday. It may not stop them being relegated this season but they are showing real fight.

They will be facing a Southampton side this weekend who are in freefall currently, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side having not won in the league since the 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the start of January.

In terms of team selection, the Blades have seven players sidelined with injuries, including Chris Basham (hamstring), John Egan (foot), Sander Berge (thigh), Jack O’Connell (knee), Jayden Bogle (shin), Jack Robinson and Jack Rodwell. Phil Jagielka is also suspended after his sending off versus Villa.

Sheffield United’s Predicted XI To Play Southampton:

Ramsdale, Baldock, Ampadu, Bryan, Stevens, Lowe, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, Sharp, McGoldrick

The Saints have just as many injury problems as United. Takumi Minamino, Theo Walcott, Kyle Walker-Peters and Ibrahima Diallo all have hamstring injuries, while Moussa Djenepo is lacking match fitness. Oriol Romeu (ankle), William Smallbone (knee) and Michael Obafemi are long term absentees.

Southampton’s Predicted XI:

Forster, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Salisu, Bertrand, Adams, Armstrong, Ward Prowse, Redmond, Tella, Ings

The bookmakers have made the Saints favourites with 888 Sport pricing them at 11/10 for the win. A draw is 5/2 with Betway while a victory for Sheffield United is currently 29/10 at BetVictor.

Predicted Score – 1-0 to Sheffield United
