REPORT: Sheffield United In Talks To Sign Fan-Favourite Midfielder

Sheffield United are reportedly in talks to re-sign starlet midfielder Tommy Doyle for next season, according to the Sheffield Star.

While a permanent transfer would be ideal, another loan move seems more realistic at this point, given Doyle’s bumper wage at recent treble-winners Manchester City.

Doyle himself is keen to move away from City in order to secure regular first-team football, having been a key player for the Blades last season. Additionally, he also mentioned that he wants to remain in the Premier League.

Moreover, he has expressed a personal desire to return to Bramall Lane. However, he also stressed that it was not in his control to decide his fate.

In an interview featured in The Star, Doyle said: “I want to play Premier League football so I’ve got to figure out what’s best for me and for everyone who’s involved. So we’ll see what happens.”

On his future, he also said: “Listen, I can’t stand here and say to you what’s going to happen. I love the place and I would love to come back. I’ve got a special bond with the club and the fans so we’ll see what happens. But yes, of course, I would love to come back.”

Who else, besides Sheffield United, are interested in a move for Tommy Doyle?

So far, Sheffield United appear to be the only club in the race to snap up Doyle’s services – they just need to offer him an acceptable wage to complete the deal, but it may be easier said than done.
