Sheffield United Planning £20m January Bid For 16 Goal Championship Marksman

Sheffield United are preparing a bid for Brentford forward Ollie Watkins, according to the Daily Mail. The newspaper claims that the Blades could spend £20m on the 23-year-old during the January transfer window.

Manager Chris Wilder is reportedly looking to add some more pace and dynamism to his frontline, and he has identified Watkins as one of his key targets.

The striker has been in blistering form for Brentford in the Championship, having scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 24 league appearances this campaign.

Watkins scored a double in the 3-1 win against Swansea City yesterday afternoon; a victory that helped the Bees move up to third in the table.

Manager Thomas Frank has converted him from a winger into a main striker this season, and he has certainly benefited from the change. His flexibility may have also attracted the Blades, whose 3-5-2 system places a lot of demands on its players.
