REPORT: Sheffield United In Pursuit Of Tunisian Midfield Star

Sheffield United are believed to be interested in a transfer for Tunisian midfielder Anis Ben Slimane, according to a recent report from the Sheffield Star.

Currently at Brondby in the Danish Superliga, Ben Slimane is expected to leave Drengene fra Vestegnen in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024. While Brondby aren’t looking to sell him any time soon, they may choose to cash in on him before his contract expires.

This season, Ben Slimane accumulated a total of three goals for Brondby. In addition to this, he also registered a single assist in the league.

What would Anis Ben Slimane add to the Sheffield United squad?

Currently, Sheffield United have just four central midfield players on their books – Sander Berge, Oliver Norwood, John Fleck and Ismaila Coulibaly. Moreover, one of these, John Fleck, is out of contract in the summer – he has yet to accept his new deal with the Blades.

To add to this, two of the four players mentioned (Fleck and Oliver Norwood) are over the age of 30. As such, the acquisition of Ben Slimane will add to much needed youthful energy to their midfield ranks.

Additionally, Ben Slimane is also an adaptable player in midfield. He is most comfortable when played centrally, but he can also function as defensive midfielder or as a traditional number ten.
