Sheffield United Look To Beat Chelsea To Signing Of £18m Rated Turkish International

Sheffield United have tabled a €20m (£18m) offer for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to reports in the Turkish media.

It has been claimed in recent days that Chelsea were looking to snap up the 24-year-old but it seems the Blades will rival the Blues for the shot-stopper’s signature.

Reports suggest that United have already held talks with Cakir’s representatives regarding a five-year contract but any deal is only likely to be agreed when the Turkish Super Lig season ends next month.

Whether there is any truth to this story, we shall have to wait and see. Sources in Turkey are notoriously unreliable but there’s no doubt that manager Chris Wilder will be planning for life without Dean Henderson.

The Blades’ number one will return to Manchester United when his loan spell expires and, while Wilder has stated he would want him back, there is no guarantee the Red Devils would sanction a third successive season-long loan.
