Sheffield United Keen To Tie Up Deal For In Form Target Man

Sheffield United are looking into extending David McGoldrick’s contract at Bramall Lane, according to reports in the local media.

The 31-year-old has been in impressive form in recent weeks, having scored five goals and provided two assists in his last six games.

McGoldrick joined the Blades on a free transfer from Ipswich Town in the summer and was given an initial one-year deal by United.

His recent performances have, however, prompted the Championship side to speed up negotiations over an extension to his current contract that expires in June.

McGoldrick has formed a strong partnership with Billy Sharp up front, with the Blades captain having triggered his own one-year contract extension after playing his 25th Championship game of the season in the 1-0 win over QPR on Saturday.

Between them, the pair have scored 27 goals in all competitions so far this campaign, in the process helping the Sheffield club to second in the Championship table.
