Sheffield United are one of three Premier League teams interested in signing Brentford forward Ollie Watkins, according to reports in the UK.
Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also believed to be keen on the 24-year-old, who scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Bees last season.
Brentford’s failure to gain promotion through the playoffs means Watkins has become a target for clubs in the top flight looking to reinforce their options up front.
However, the striker won’t be available on the cheap, with it being reported that he could fetch as much as £25m.
Whether the Blades’ transfer budget will stretch that far, especially considering the current financial climate, we shall have to wait and see.
Watkins is a long-term target for Chris Wilder’s side, having been previously linked with the player following their promotion to the Premier League last summer. Competition for the Championship star is likely to be a lot fiercer this time around following his excellent campaign for Brentford.
