Sheffield United Involved In Three Team Battle To Sign £10m Rated Everton Stopper

Sheffield United have joined the race to sign Everton defender Mason Holgate, according to reports in the UK. The Blades are vying with Bournemouth and Burnley for the 22-year-old’s signature.

The Toffees may offload the centre-back for £10m after he spent the second half of last season out on loan at West Bromwich Albion. He is not in Marco Silva’s first-team plans for the new season and could be sold before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

Chris Wilder’s side have reportedly registered their interest in Holgate already, while Burnley and Bournemouth are eying the England Under 21 international just in case they lose important defenders.

Leicester have sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United and are said to be considering moves for Cherries star Nathan Ake and Clarets centre-half James Tarkowski.

If Holgate were to move to Bramall Lane before the transfer deadline, though, he would be the Blades’ eighth signing of the summer.
