Sheffield United Dealt Major Setback In Attempt To Snap Up Liverpool Wonderkid

Sheffield United are unlikely to sign Harvey Elliott this summer with Liverpool not interested in loaning out the winger, according to reports in the English media.

The Blades have been mentioned as a possible destination for the 18-year-old in recent weeks, with manager Slavisa Jokanovic believed to be keen on adding some creativity following the Yorkshire team’s lack of goal threat last season.

Elliott was very impressive during a loan spell with Blackburn Rovers, having scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 42 appearances, and he would be seen as an ideal addition to the squad.

However, with Liverpool expected to be without Sadio Mane and Mo Salah for the African Cup of Nations in January, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep the teenager around as cover.

There was a similar situation last year when Elliott was meant to stay at Anfield but the decision was eventually made to let him leave to get some much-needed first-team experience. Whether a similar thing will happen before the transfer window closes next month, we shall have to wait and see.
