Sheffield United Boss Warns Players Against Complacency After Villa Mauling

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder wants to keep his players’ feet firmly on the ground following their 4-1 demolition of Aston Villa last weekend.

The Blades started the season with two defeats, but have come roaring back with four consecutive wins to move them up to third in the Championship table heading into the international break. The manager is, however, hoping that their win against the Villans doesn’t lead to complacency among the squad:

“We’ve had one really good result and performance but that’s all it is. There are a couple of clubs in this division who talk the talk but don’t always walk the walk. I won’t allow that to happen here.”

“We’re humble. I’m a humble manager. You always try and create special days and it was a special day. But that’s all it was. It’s something to build on.”

It has been an excellent start for Wilder’s men, but with 40 matches still to play this campaign, it is certainly wise not to get too far ahead of themselves.

United face Bristol City in eight days’ time. The Robins have had a very similar start to the Blades. Lee Johnson’s side accrued just one point from their opening three league games but will head into the encounter at Ashton Gate off the back of three consecutive wins over QPR, Swansea and Blackburn Rovers.
