Sheffield United Ace Scores First Goal At International Level In Friendly Win

Sheffield United forward Callum Robinson scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland as Mick McCarthy’s side came from 1-0 down to beat New Zealand 3-1 in a friendly last night.

The Republic fielded a very young side with Celtic’s Lee O’Connor crossing from the right-hand side for the Blades striker to head in to seal victory on the 75th minute.

Robinson only came on as a substitute just after the hour mark, with the 24-year-old expected to start in a crucial Euro 2020 qualifier against Denmark on Monday evening.

Ireland must secure three points when they face the Danes in order to qualify for the tournament next summer. They currently sit top of the group but they are level on points with their opponents, who have played a game less.

Robinson will, though, head into the game with added confidence after getting off the mark for his country on his eleventh cap.
