Napoli are expected to step up their interest in Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to reports in the Italian media.

An injury to Diego Demme means head coach Luciano Spalletti is keen on finding a new partner for Fabian Ruiz in the middle of the park, and the Serie A side have identified Berge as their number one target.

Arsenal are also said to have revived their interest in the Norwegian international over the past few days, after being left frustrated in their efforts to sign Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli and Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

The Blades are now believed to be willing to sell Berge for slightly below his £35m release clause, with a £30m price tag reportedly being set, but we shall see if there is any accuracy to those stories.

United boss Slavisa Jokanovic is not expected to let Berge leave without a fight and it remains to be seen whether Napoli or Arsenal will make a formal offer for the 23-year-old.
