Sheffield United are looking to snap up West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez, according to reports in England.

The 29-year-old scored 22 goals for the Baggies last campaign but can leave for just £5m after the Midlands club’s failure to get promoted to the Premier League triggered a release clause.

The Blades had been keen to recruit Brentford’s Neal Maupay or Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga but Rodriguez is available for a much lower price.

Swansea are close to selling winger Daniel James to Manchester United for £18m. The 21-year-old has undergone a medical and will sign a long-term contract worth a reported £67,000 per week.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Leeds striker Kemar Roofe, according to reports. The 26-year-old scored 15 goals for the Yorkshire side last season, but he could be attracted by a move to the Premier League.

The Whites are said to be holding out for £10m in order to let the former West Brom trainee leave this summer.
