REPORT: Sheffield United Keen On Rangers Star For Transfer

Sheffield United are reportedly interested in Rangers superstar Ryan Kent with a free transfer in mind, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

With just a few weeks left on the former Liverpool academy graduate’s contract at the Ibrox Stadium, several clubs are lining up to secure his signature.

United have a Premier League season on the horizon – as such, the Blades will need to invest heavily in their squad. But, with a limited budget compared to the top teams, they will also need to be careful with how they spend.

As such, the potential acquisition of Kent makes a lot of sense. Not only is he an talented, adaptable midfield player, he will also be available on a free transfer.

Despite this, United aren’t the only ones who are interested in the 26-year-old. Everton have reportedly registered an interest in his services, as have 19-time Turkish League champions Fenerbahce. In addition to this, Leeds United and AFC Bournemouth are also thought to be interested in the player.

Ryan Kent career summary

As mentioned, Kent’s career began life at Liverpool, all the way back in 2004 – despite this, he never made a first-team appearance for the Reds. Instead, he was frequently shipped out on loan to clubs such as Coventry City, Bristol City and Barnsley.

Kent’s final Liverpool loan spell took place at Rangers – the following year, he was snapped up by the Gers for a reported fee of £6.5 million. In total, he has made 140 appearances for the Light Blues, scoring 28 goals.

His time at Rangers has coincided with the Gers’ greatest period since their liquidation in 2012. Not only did he help to guide them to a Scottish Premiership title in 2021, he also helped the club reach the Europa League final in 2022. Additionally, in that same year, Rangers also won the Scottish Cup.
