Premier League Rivals Join Sheffield United In Race To Sign Transfer Target

Habib Diallo

Sheffield United are reportedly interested in Senegalese striker Habib Diallo – but according to a report from The Sun, they will need to beat off interest from Burnley and West Ham United if they want to bring him to Bramall Lane.

Diallo would be a brilliant addition to Sheffield United’s ranks. With players such as talisman Billy Sharp and Oli McBurnie potentially leaving the club in the summer, Diallo would be an excellent way to fill the gaps.

With this being said, both Burnley and West Ham have more financial muscle than United do – can they win the race to bring Diallo on board?

Can Sheffield United still sign Habib Diallo?

With the arrival of Burnley and West Ham in the race to snap up Diallo, the Blades’ chances certainly look more remote than they did before. A move to Burnley, who have had a wonderful season under Vincent Kompany, will certainly excite the Senegal native.

Additionally, despite their Premier League underperformance this season, West Ham have the money and resources to mount a serious challenge for European football – something the Blades cannot boast.

Additionally, it is unclear as to whether United are willing to pay the £20 million price tag that has been slapped on the 27-year-old – or if they even can.

Habib Diallo career summary

Diallo’s career began at Metz, where he spent the first six years of his professional life in football. In total, he scored 52 goals in 133 games across Metz’s first team and B team. During this time, he also enjoyed a loan spell at Brest.

In 2020, the Senegalese goal machine signed for Strasbourg, where he remains to this day. So far, he has scored 35 goals in 92 games for Les Bleu et Blanc.

He has also won a handful of caps for his native Senegal – he has found the back of the net three times in 16 international appearances for the Lions of Teranga.
