Manchester City V Sheffield United: Match Preview And Predicted Lineup For This Weekend’s Game

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder would have been ecstatic with the attitude of his players as they beat high-flying Manchester United to secure only their second win of the season on Wednesday night.

Things don’t get any easier for the Blades, though, as they play league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend. The Citizens are on an unbeaten run which has seen them win their last eleven matches in all competitions.

In terms of team news, Wilder will be able to welcome back John Egan from suspension but there are doubts over Enda Stevens, Oli McBurnie and Ben Osborn who all have knocks. Jack O’Connell (knee), Sander Berge (hamstring) and Jack Robinson are unavailable:

Sheffield United’s Predicted XI To Face Manchester City:

Ramsdale, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Ampadu, Bryan, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, McGoldrick, Sharp

City boss Pep Guardiola will be without Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring), Nathan Ake (muscular) and Sergio Aguero (virus) for the game on Saturday.

Manchester City’s Predicted XI:

Ederson, Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Sterling

The bookies have made City the heavy favourites with Betway pricing them at 1/8 odds-on for the win. A draw is 8/1 with Paddy Power while a Blades victory is 25/1 at Betfred.

Predicted Score – 3-0 to City

One player who is unlikely to make the Blades matchday squad is youngster Kyron Gordon. Wilder did select him on the bench for 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers earlier this month but he has yet to be given his first-team debut.

Even so, Premier League champions Liverpool and Merseyside rivals Everton are keeping tabs on the 18-year old, according to reports in the English media. The 18-year-old, who is a centre-back by trade, is nearing the end of his first professional contract and he could leave Bramall Lane in the summer.
