Liverpool have entered the race to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to reports in the UK.
The Premier League champions are said to be eyeing the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, with the Dutchman expected to leave Anfield on a free transfer in the summer.
Berge was linked with the Merseyside club before the Norwegian international joined the Blades from Racing Genk in January 2020, and it seems they have kept close tabs on the player.
With United almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League, it appears likely that Berge will leave Bramall Lane in the summer. Despite picking up a serious hamstring injury back in December, he is a highly related young talent who is being watched by multiple clubs.
Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in Berge and it will be hoped that, if the midfielder does leave this summer, the Blades could make a profit on the £22m they paid for him.
