Latest Sheffield United Injury News: Updates On McBurnie And McGoldrick

Sheffield United forward Oli McBurnie has pulled out of the Scotland squad for their fixtures against Russia and San Marino this week due to injury.

The details are not known as to why the 23-year-old withdrew from international duty but he has been replaced by Southampton midfielder Stuart Armstrong.

McBurnie has just under two weeks in order to get back fit before United’s next game in the Premier League. The Blades face Arsenal in a Monday night game at Bramall Lane on 21st October.

Manager Chris Wilder’s other major injury concern is David McGoldrick. Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the forward won’t feature for his country against Georgia on Saturday.

The 31-year-old picked up a groin injury at the back end of last month and has missed United’s games against Everton, Sunderland, Liverpool and Watford. McCarthy did, however, say he could be in contention for the substitute’s bench when Ireland face Switzerland on Tuesday.
