Journalist Claims 9 Goal Blades Star Will Be Pursued By “Premier League Clubs”

Sheffield United attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye is likely being scouted by a number of “Premier League clubs” ahead of the January transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Senegalese international has had a strong start to the season, scoring nine goals in the Championship. However, O’Rourke feels that, while the Blades will want to keep hold of the player, a strong World Cup could make things difficult:

“I think he’s definitely going to be on lists of Premier League clubs looking to strengthen their forward lines. Ndiaye’s had a great season for Sheffield United. There was some interest in the summer but I think again, Sheffield United are very reluctant to lose one of their best players. He’s central to Sheffield United’s promotion push this season. They’re focused on trying to get back to the Premier League and they’ll want to keep hold of their best players like Ndiaye. But, he’s gone to the World Cup with Senegal. So if he was to make a big impact at the World Cup, he’s going to bring even more teams on to him as well.”

Ndiaye will have eighteen months left on his contract at Bramall Lane in January, and reports suggest that United have not sat down to discuss an extension yet. It is a situation that manager Paul Heckingbottom is unlikely to be happy with.

The 22-year-old has been a key part of the Yorkshire club’s push for promotion so if the decision is made to cash in on the player, it would undoubtedly have a significant impact on their chances of securing a top-two finish.
