Jamie Redknapp Names His Manager Of The Year (And It Isn’t Jurgen Klopp)

Jamie Redknapp says Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder fully deserves to be named Manager of the Year after the Blades’ superb first season in the top flight.

The Sky Sports pundit feels that while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should be given all the plaudits, Wilder’s achievements have eclipsed the German considering the resources he had to work with:

“Jurgen Klopp will go down in history as one of the greatest managers ever. Deservedly so, too. But there is only one Manager of the Year for me, and that is Chris Wilder of Sheffield United.”

“I count what Wilder has achieved in his first season as a Premier League manager as miraculous. Not only have his side survived, they have survived with style.”

Heading into the final three games of the campaign, United are just one point off the top six and five points off Leicester in fourth, which is an incredible achievement considering the players at Wilder’s disposal.

The fact that the Blades boss has managed to maintain a consistent level of performance almost throughout the whole season, with no real drop-off, is a testament to his managerial ability.

Wilder, though, will certainly not rest on his laurels and he will want to finish the campaign strongly. They face Leicester, Everton and Southampton in their last three matches.
