Henderson Beats Fernandes, Ings And Martinelli To Win BBC’s ‘Signing Of The Season’

Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson came top of the votes in a BBC poll to determine the Premier League’s signing of the season.

The 23-year-old moved to Bramall Lane from Manchester United on a season-long loan in the summer, and he has been an outstanding performer, helping the Blades keep ten clean sheets.

Henderson won 25% of the vote, beating off competition from the likes of Danny Ings, who moved from Liverpool to Southampton in July, and Bruno Fernandes who joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January.

Fourth on the list was Gabriel Martinelli who was signed by Arsenal for just £6m in the summer with the Brazilian having excelled at the Emirates this campaign.

Henderson is, though, more than deserving of the award considering his consistent performances in between the sticks for Chris Wilder’s side. The keeper, whose loan spell expires at the end of June, will be looking to finish the season with a flourish as and when it resumes.
