‘Fantastic News’ ‘Future Captain Right There’ – Sheffield United Fans On Social Media Are Delighted With Defender’s New Deal

Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell has signed a new long-term deal at Bramall Lane, the club have confirmed.

The centre-back has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him with the Blades until 2023.

Supporters on Twitter are very happy to see O’Connell staying for the long term:

The 24-year-old certainly has room to grow and develop, but he has already proven himself during his two and a half seasons at the club.

In Chris Wilder’s unique system, O’Connell has been integral to the team’s success by providing overlapping runs on the left-hand side despite playing as a centre-half.

Fans will be hoping that the defender is fit for the Sheffield derby on Monday night. He has missed the last three league games with a hamstring injury.

Wilder has suggested the player is back fit, but he will make a late call on whether to include him against Wednesday.
