Everton Planning Raid On Sheffield United For Irish International With Scouts Set To Watch Him Tonight

Everton are considering a move for Sheffield United defender John Egan, according to reports in the English media. Toffees boss Marco Silva is looking to strengthen his defensive options and the Merseysiders are targeting the Irish international as a possible target.

It is believed that scouts will be in attendance when the Republic of Ireland face Denmark in a crucial Euro 2020 qualifier. Egan has started the last three internationals and is expected to start at the Aviva Stadium this evening.

The Blades won’t be letting Egan leave without a fight, though. United’s defence is the second-best in the Premier League and Egan is a crucial part of that; playing in the middle of the back three.

They will likely demand a sizeable sum if Everton do indeed back up their interest in the 27-year-old with a bid in the January transfer window. It remains to be seen, though, if they will make a formal approach.
