Burnley Plotting Move For Sheffield United Star Who Has Been Left Pondering His Future

Burnley are weighing up a potential move for Sheffield United defender Chris Basham, according to reports in the UK.

The 33-year-old has less than six months left on his contract at Bramall Lane but it is believed that the centre-half has not been offered an extension.

Despite Basham being willing to stay, he is now considering his options. Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Wolves have all been linked with the player but Burnley are said to be the likeliest to make a move for him.

The Clarets are reportedly in danger of losing James Tarkowski to Newcastle and manager Sean Dyche could target Basham as a potential short-term replacement ahead of next season.

Whether the Blades are seriously considering allowing Basham to leave for nothing next summer, it seems doubtful, but they will need to start talks over a new contract soon or they could find themselves without a key first team player.
