“Breakthrough” In Talks Could Boost Sheffield United’s Chances Of Re Signing Henderson

Manchester United have had a “breakthrough” in their talks to tie down goalkeeper Dean Henderson to a long-term contract, according to the Football Insider.

The former Blades loanee’s current deal at Old Trafford expires in 2022 and the Red Devils are keen to get him to commit his future to the club in order to fend off interest from Chelsea.

Henderson is unlikely to displace David De Gea as United’s number one next season so if he does sign on a dotted line, it could be good news for Sheffield United.

Manager Chris Wilder has already stated he would be open to having the 23-year-old back for a third successive loan spell.

Whether Henderson would also be keen on such an arrangement, if he signs a contract extension with United, it remains to be seen. Reports suggest the keeper is determined to make sure he gets regular first-team football next campaign, although that doesn’t necessarily mean a return to Bramall Lane.
