Blades star joins Premier League side

Premier League side Bournemouth have completed the signing of David Brooks from the Blades on a four-year deal for a fee believed to be around £12m.

Brooks signed a new four-year contract at Sheffield United in October 2017, but has attracted a whole host of attention after a remarkable season at Bramall Lane.

The 20-year-old gained three caps for Wales after making his international debut last November, and scored three goals in 33 appearances for United.

Brooks thanked Sheffield United staff, players and fans in a farewell message after his move was finalised, saying: “I really want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Sheffield United. The manager, staff, players and especially the fans. It was not an easy decision to leave but the chance to play Premier League football and test myself at the highest level is what every player dreams of.”

It is a blow to Chris Wilder’s plans for the upcoming season, but the transfer fee recouped will almost certainly be reinvested this summer.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe had this to say on the capture of one of the finest youngsters around: “David is a player we have been looking at for a long time. He is technically very good, has huge potential and will fit our philosophy in terms of how we want to play,” via Bournemouth’s official website.

“We’ve seen enough to suggest he is a player who could be outstanding at this level in the future if he develops in the right way and is willing to learn and improve.”
