Blades Set To Send Scout To See £26m Rated Shot Stopper In Action

Sheffield United will have a scout in attendance when Trabzonspor face Rizespor this weekend, according to Fotomac (via Sport Witness). The Turkish newspaper reports that the Blades, along with Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Sevilla will be there to see a number of Trabzonspor players in action.

The most likely target is the Super Lig side’s goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, who was reportedly subject of a €13m (£11m) offer from the Yorkshire club earlier this month.

It is believed that the bid was rejected by Trabzonspor with the Turkish club reportedly seeking a fee in the region of €30m (£26m) for the 23-year-old.

The Blades’ interest in Cakir is not a surprise considering there is still uncertainty over the future of current number one Dean Henderson. His loan spell expires in June and while it is believed that Manchester United could be willing to offload the shot-stopper, his £30m asking price is likely to be a stumbling block.

Cakir’s valuation is not far off that, however, and it remains to be seen if Sheffield United can persuade his club to drop their asking price.
