Blades Preparing £15m January Offer For Championship Ace

Sheffield United are lining up a £15m bid for Brentford forward Ollie Watkins, according to the Sun. Despite having shelled out nearly £40m on new signings in the summer, manager Chris Wilder wants to add more attacking options to his squad.

The Blades boss is reportedly a big fan of the 23-year-old with the forward able to play right across the frontline. Until this season, he has generally played out wide for the Bees but after the Championship side sold Neal Maupay to Brighton, manager Thomas Frank has opted to use him more centrally.

The move has worked out for Brentford with Watkins having scored seven goals in ten league games already this campaign.

United may face competition from Crystal Palace for the player’s signature after the Eagles registered their interest in the summer but the Blades are said to be confident of outbidding their Premier League rivals in January.
