Blades Have Club Record Bid For Championship Ace Rejected

Swansea have rejected a £15m bid from Sheffield United for striker Oli McBurnie, according to reports in the English media.

The offer would have broken their club transfer record, which was only set very recently by the club’s capture of Callum Robinson from Preston.

The Blades are intent on improving their forward line ahead of the new season with McBurnie apparently now top of their list of targets.

Chris Wilder’s side have also been linked with Brentford’s Neal Maupay and Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga in recent weeks but it seems the Swans ace is the club’s priority.

McBurnie scored 22 goals in the Championship last season, after establishing himself in the first team under manager Graham Potter.

Potter has since moved on to Brighton, who looked set to be rivals to Sheffield United for the Scottish striker’s signature but the Seagulls have not followed up their interest in the player with a bid.

Whether the Blades will make a second offer for McBurnie, we shall have to wait and see.
