Blades close in on Liverpool star

Sheffield United are reportedly nearing a deal to bring Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn to the club on loan.

It is believed that Jurgen Klopp carefully considered the options available to the youngster before choosing which he would allow to sign for, with Sheffield United seeming like the ideal choice.

Chris Wilder was known to be in the market for another forward this summer, and the 18-year-old Wales international could well be a great deal for both parties if completed.

The Blades would get a youngster with bags of potential, who will be hungry to prove himself. Whilst Liverpool will benefit by watching one of their brightest prospects get some much needed experience under his belt.

Woodburn became Liverpool’s third-youngest player in history when he made his debut in November 2016, he then went on to become the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer. He is also Wales’ second-youngest-ever goalscorer, having netted on his debut at the age of 17.

It is believed that several Championship clubs wanted to wrap up a deal for the forward, most notably Aston Villa, with Steve Bruce reportedly asking Wales’ national boss Ryan Giggs to speak to Woodburn about a potential move.
