Sheffield United have sent scouts to watch Plymouth goalkeeper Michael Cooper in action this season, according to Football League World.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Argyle, who have conceded just six goals in eight League One matches so far, which is the joint third-best defensive record in the division.

Cooper is not just being followed by the Blades, though, with Premier League teams Aston Villa, Southampton and Brentford keeping an eye on his development, while the likes of West Brom, Birmingham and Coventry City are also in the mix.

United boss Slavisa Jokanovic did bring in Robin Olsen on loan from Roma in the summer to strengthen his options in between the posts but, if the Sweden international does return to Italy next summer, another keeper would be needed.

Although there could be strong competition for Cooper, the Blades would be a very attractive destination, considering they could well be able to offer him regular first-team football.
