Blades Already Considering January Signing With Burnley Star In Their Sights

Despite the transfer window having only just closed, Sheffield United have already been linked with a move for Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick in January.

Reports in the English media suggest Blades boss Chris Wilder is interested in making a bid for the Republic of Ireland international after the 27-year-old was left on the bench by the Clarets for the 3-0 win against Southampton on Saturday.

Hendrick signed for £10.5m from Derby County in August 2016 and made 41 appearances in all competitions for Sean Dyche’s side last season.

However, he was overlooked in favour of Ashley Westwood and Jack Cork for the victory over the Saints, and it remains to be seen how much game time he will get between now and January.

Sheffield United do have a number of midfield options in their squad following the arrival of Ben Osborn, Luke Freeman, Ravel Morrison and Mo Besic this summer so it would be a surprise if they made a move for another midfielder.
