Bent Urges Chelsea Legend To Take On Sheffield United Challenge

Former Sheffield United striker Marcus Bent believes John Terry would be making the right decision if he were to be appointed the Blades’ next manager.

The Chelsea legend is currently Aston Villa’s assistant head coach but he has never been a number one, and Bent thinks starting in the Championship would be a smart move for his fledgeling managerial career:

“For John to go in, in the Championship, I think that’d be good for John. Not being as experienced a manager as a player that he is, but I think the respect for John would be massive if he did go in there.”

It was reported last week that Terry had been added to the shortlist of candidates that Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah is considering as potential successors to Chris Wilder.

Alexander Blessin remains a leading contender for the job, despite recently extending his contract with KV Oostende, while former Watford and Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has also been heavily linked.

Terry’s lack of experience will play against him as the Blades are keen to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking next season, but his name appears to be firmly in the frame.
