Arsenal Keeping Tabs On Blades Stars Who Wilder Has Described As His “Best Player This Season”

Arsenal remain interested in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to reports in the Norwegian media. The Gunners were keen on the 22-year-old before he made the £20m switch to Bramall Lane in January and they are said to be still tracking the player’s progress.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has been very complimentary about the Norwegian international’s displays this season, saying he has been the standout performer despite United struggling for form this campaign.

“People thought he would not be a success in the Premier League, but he has turned it upside down. Sander has been our best player this season. I just have to say it: Sander has been unique. He is the one who has stood out for us. He is a complete midfielder.”

Berge will undoubtedly be on the radar of a number of other clubs as well as Arsenal. When Liverpool faced Racing Genk in the Champions League group stages last season, manager Jurgen Klopp praised the midfielder, which led to speculation that he could leave the Belgian club for Anfield.

Instead, he moved to the Blades, which was a tremendous coup for the Yorkshire side. How long they will be able to keep hold of him, though, it remains to be seen.
