Almeria striker Darwin Nunez favours a move to Benfica, according to reports in the Spanish media. The Uruguayan international is reportedly being watched by Sheffield United, as well as Brighton, Southampton, Napoli, Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig, but it seems the 21-year-old is keen on a switch to Portugal.

It remains to be seen, though, whether the Primeira Liga side can come up with the cash to sign the forward. He has a €30m (£27m) release clause, although Almeria are said to be prepared to listen to offers for around €25m (£22m).

If the Blades do miss out on Nunez, manager Chris Wilder is likely to redouble his efforts to sign Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster. At the moment, the Reds have not decided on whether to loan the player out with Jurgen Klopp keen on assessing the 20-year-old through pre-season. With the transfer window closing in October, there is time for things to change in the next few weeks.
