Sheffield United Make Contact About Signing 113 Goal Striker On Free Transfer

Sheffield United have registered their interest in signing former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer, according to reports in the English media.

West Brom and Newcastle are also thought to be in the race for the 31-year-old, who has not found a club since leaving Trabzonspor almost a year ago.

Blades boss Chris Wilder is likely to be interested in adding extra firepower to his team’s forward line, with the Yorkshire club having scored just 15 goals in 23 league games this season.

With Sturridge able to join outside of the transfer window due to the fact he is a free agent, it seems like a perfect addition to the squad.

The former England international scored 113 goals during spells at Manchester City, Chelsea, Bolton, Liverpool and Trabzonspor but there are concerns about his fitness.

Not only has he spent a great deal of time out of the game, he has also struggled with injuries over the past six to seven years which makes handing him a contract a risk.
